An old friend contacted me the other day looking for turtle inspired designs for a surfer’s rash guard. I sculpted the turtle shell in ZBrush while looking at some reference. I grabbed a 2d normal map from the 3d sculpt and dropped it into DDO to texture. He loved the results so I repeated the process for the front (which is oddly differently proportioned) and skin pattern for the sleeves. He sent me a pixelated logo that night hoping I could get that done as well. No sweat. I recreated it in Illustrator, dropped it into NDO for a normal map, then DDO for texturing. He couldn’t figure out how I was doing them so fast.
